Over the last few years, the Mercy Track and Field Teams have enjoyed a great deal of success.  The boys team is an up and coming team in their league and has had a handful of standout performances. The indoor and outdoor team have just been reinstated over the last few years.  They look to continue their success and build on it going into the future.

The girls team has enjoyed a great deal of success, especially over the last few years.  The Mercy quartet of Sasa Vann, Kayleigh Macchirole, Lauren Woodhull, and Olivia Schumann won a Division II state title in 2011 in the 4x400m relay in a school record time of 3:57.43.  They also garnered medals at the prestigious  New Balance Outdoor National meet by finishing 6th in the Emerging Elite section of the 4x400 and improving their school record time to 3:57.34.  Key returners to the team include (but are not limited to) Sasa Vann, Tori Tremble, Lauren Valle, Emily Venesina, Delina Auciello, and Meg Tuthill in the running events.  The field events are headlined by Bianca Compass, Catherine Andes, Shannon Nunez and Meghan Donnelly.

The Boys Team, although a few years younger than the girls team, also has some strong runners. On the mid distance/distance team standouts include Patrick Derenze, Riley Joinnides, Matt Abazis, Brian Willett, and up and comer Chris Williams.

The sprinters are headlined by the one and only Paul "Junior" Rudfil, senior captain Jay Marano, Tom Kent who has turned into one of the best 100/200/hold your breath for as long as you can during a race guys in the league, Luis Cintron, and Brian Merle.  The throws and jumps are covered by senior captain Drew Rajotte, Chris Motlenski, Matt Haughn, Andrew Glasgow, and Robert Folkes.

The boys have the misfortune of competing regularly against one of the best teams in the entire county Port Jefferson but look to build on good early season performances to get as many people into the state qualifier and division championships as possible.

McGann Mercy is located at 1225 Ostrander Avenue in Riverhead New York.  It is a private catholic school that has approximately 100 students per grade.
